(See our Purchase/Policy page if you are unfamiliar with examples of age-appropriate wear on vintage and antique merchandise.)
Masterful and truly mysterious 20th century surrealist painting, oil (I believe) on stretched canvas. The unexplained goings-on appear to me to be a monastic interior with a grotesque guest, the flowering fiend has left a cluster of nearly trompe l'oeil droplets on the wall. It is dated ('84), signed and inscribed on back, though I can not make the signature. This measures about 22.5" wide and tall, including the gilt wood frame. Condition is excellent with age appropriate wear.
$15,850 / DE-005003

Large antique—probably 18th century—oil painting of a semi-bare breasted Cleopatra (I believe) in a decadent lair. Masterfully painted on canvas that appears to have been relined in the early 20th century. The stretched canvas is housed in an antique gilt wood frame that I assume dates to the painting's reline. The framed measurement is about 36.5" by 26.5". Painting is in excellent condition with age-appropriate wear, the frame is lovely too with minor losses and retouches throughout.
$29,880 / DE-005006
Deeply moving 18th century oil on canvas portrait of a pious nun. Gilt wood frame is antique, though likely dates later than the painting, it has minimal losses including a thin shard from the outer edge. Framed measurement of about 29"x24.5". A spectacular painting, searing in its simplicity, one of the most emotionally taut portraits I've seen.
$35,850 / DE-005007
19th century German jasperware covered urn with spectacular winged gryphon creatures in high relief amid a wealth of decoration. The bowl urn rests on three large lion paws. The spire finial was once reset (slightly offset), and there are small losses here and there. It stands 9" in total height and 5 3/8" without the lid. The base measures 3 5/8" x 4 7/16". Marked on the base with the numbers 2870 and 20. It may be the most impressively decorated jasperware we've seen.

Painting is in excellent condition with age appropriate wear, the frame is strong too with a variety of age-appropriate flaws to its decorations including scuffs and scrapes, fractures and fissures, tarnish and discolors, losses and retouches throughout.
